I am doing sit-ups the recommended way as in the [[sit-ups]] wiki. I get this rubbing that creates a scab after a while on my tailbone. It hurts like hell.. anyone else get this? I am probably going to get an abmat very soon. Hopefully this helps.

Just use a towel instead of an abmat for now, works the same.

Yep, I get the exact same thing.

Last time I thought I got it messing around at practice but this time I realize it was from the situps.  Especially since it occurs from the chaffing off the ground, I don't think a towel will fix it.  I think we just have to build up skin endurance there.

Also our form might possibly be off a little.

Ya mine went away a little but I heard that it never really completely goes away.

The Abmat helps ridiculously though because of its shape. I'll try to contact them some more so I can get a seller's discount. Have you received your rings yet Andy?

Yea got the rings, thanks.

I feel like having an abmat might dumb down the sit up, am I wrong on this?  Using a towel helps relieve compression on the spine but it's small enough that you don't get any sort of aid in the sit-up motion.  Somebody correct me here if I'm off base

My main point is that I think we're just going to have to get used to that tailbone scab thingy...or tuck something down our pants.

go Primal!

Andy,

AbMats are the shit!! they do not aid the sit-up at all but make the motion and your form flawless. You should try one out asap for the sit-ups.

P.s. everybody on the crossfit forums say that you have to just deal with the scabs.
